March 22, 2013.
It has been three years (three years!) since we said goodbye to MCR. I still find it hard to listen to them now, but when I do, it brings back the most amazing memories. Looking back, I can honestly say that this band shaped me as a person, and I will always be thankful for that. It has taken a long time, and I’m still not over it, I don’t think I ever will be, but three years on I’m able to reflect positively.
I was pissed when Gerard first described the band as an ‘idea’. It was probably something like ‘Gerard, I’ve been condemned to a life of perpetual suffering and all you have to offer me this metaphor shit???’ But now I know what he meant. The feeling and the experience isn’t necessarily tangible, it transcends any date or resolution, because they will always be there. If you’re an MCR fan, you know the feeling. It’s hard to explain; it’s kinda like infinite familiarity.
Their music will always be there, along with their impact on my life and the lives of others. MCR isn’t over; kids are still getting into them now, finding their music, getting inspired, and that makes me so happy. Okay this post was supposed to be a couple of sentences but apparently that didn’t go to plan. But yes; People have moved on, many of the old iconic mcr bloggers post other things now, and that’s okay. (yall know when that G note plays mcr fans literally resurrect anyways..)
In the words of Gerard himself, “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die.”
